JANUARY

Wednesday, January 9 – Board of Directors Monthly Meeting.

Saturday, January 12 – Living Treasures Reception at 1:00 p.m. in the Rob Morris Educational Building. Kentucky Humanities Council program will be given on “Nancy Green:  Being Aunt Jemima, the Pancake Queen.” Reservations suggested. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments. Sponsored by The Oldham Era and Project Guild of La Grange.

Wednesday, January 16 – Homeschool History Program. A program geared for Homeschooling children and their parents only. Normally meets the 1st Wed. of the month. Two sessions:  Morning (10-11 a.m.) and Afternoon (1-2 p.m.). Appropriate for ages 5 – middle school. Students will explore a different topic in history each month Jan. – May and Aug. – Dec. $5 per child per session or Family Membership for the year/covers all children in family.

Saturday, January 19 – Junior Ranger Program:  Getting to Know Your National Parks! from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. $5 each child/session or $20 for all four sessions. Free for members. Earn a Junior Ranger Badge by participating in this Junior Ranger program for kids ages 6 to 12 every third Sat. through April.

 

FEBRUARY

Tuesday, February 5 – Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre presents: Mysterious Mauvilla:  The Lost Treasure of Dr. John Martin Taylor. 6 p.m. light appetizers & mingling with the cast. 7 p.m. catered meal and program. A fundraiser presented by the Oldham County High School Drama Club. Held in the Rob Morris Educ. Building. $50 per person.
Wednesday, February 6 – Homeschool History Program. A program geared for Homeschooling children and their parents only. Two sessions:  Morning (10-11 a.m.) and Afternoon (1-2 p.m.). Appropriate for ages 5 – middle school. $5 per child per session or Family Membership for the year/covers all children in family.

Thursday, February 7 – History Hounds begins the 2019 sessions. For ages birth to 5 years. Held every Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Rob Morris Educational Building. Spring sessions will focus on Culture. $5 per child per session or Family Membership.

Saturday, February 9 – The 9th annual Chocolate Crawl in La Grange. Contact La Grange Kentucky Main Street Program for more information at 502.269.0126.

Saturday, February 9 – Delia Webster Valentine Tea for Children. 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. $10 per child, includes lunch and crafts. Recommended ages:  5 and up. Registration required.

Saturday, June 1 - Sunday, June 2 – Colonial Trade Faire from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day. Includes 18th century camp, sutlers selling 18th century wares, music, cannon demonstration, on-going heritage skill demonstrations, KY authors, SAR. Free. Held in conjunction with Arts on the Green.

Wednesday, June 12 - Board of Directors Monthly Meeting at Noon.

Friday, June 21 – Oldham County Historical Society Gala:  Celebrating the 2019 Champion of Oldham County History. Various sponsorship opportunities are available. Fundraiser with dinner and silent auction. 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Cost.

Saturday, June 22 – Barnyard Fun!! 10 a.m. – Noon. Hands-on special family activities at the Dahlgren Pioneer Barn. Free and open to the public.

Saturday, June 22 – Splash Day at the Ohio River:  History, Conservation & Water Safety! Family activities include kayaking, paddleboards, food trucks, etc. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, June 27 – Arcadia Publishing & The History Press Dinner Author Series presents:  “Lost Amusement Parks in Kentuckiana”. $20 per person/$22 non-members. 6 p.m. Light meal, cash bar. Reservations required.

Saturday, June 29- "Pickin on the Porch" Concert Series at Knock on Wood in Westport featuring Jordan Bales, food, wine and beer available.  Proceeds benefit the Oldham County History Center

Wednesday, July 10 – Ohio River Cocktail Cruise Boarding takes place in Prospect at the Captain’s Quarters Princess yacht. 6- 8 p.m. $55 per person includes heavy appetizers and cash bar. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED by calling 502.222.0826.

Saturday, July 20 – Oldham County Day, sponsored by Project Guild of La Grange. Living Treasures recipients will appear in the Oldham County Day Parade. Antique Iron display from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Monday – Friday, July 22 – 26:  Archaeology Field Study for ages 13 and up. $150 per person. Scholarships available. Call the history center for information and registration.

Saturday, July 27 – Barnyard Fun!! 10 a.m. – Noon. Hands-on special family activities at the Dahlgren Pioneer Barn. Free and open to the public.

Wednesday, November 6– Homeschool History Program. A program geared for Homeschooling children and their parents only. Two sessions:  Morning (10-11 a.m.) and Afternoon (1-2 p.m.). Appropriate for ages 5 – middle school. $5 per child per session or Family Membership.

Saturday, December 7 – Breakfast with the Grinch -9-11 a.m. in the Rob Morris Educational Building.  Muffins and juice/coffee, children’s crafts and activities, watch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and have your picture taken with the Grinch. $5 per person.
