Special Camps for Students at the Oldham County History Center

This summer the Oldham County History Center is offering two special programs for students; The Archaeology Institute for High School Students and the Explorers Camp for students 9 to 11 years old. The description is as follows:

5th Annual Archaeology Institute for High School Students


July 12-16
Cost: $200
Times: 9 a.m. –3:30 p.m.
Ages: 14-18 years old.
Limit: 10 students

Students work with licensed archaeologists on a registered, pre-civil war site. Students explore Kentucky slavery issues and spend one day visiting the Freedom Center museum in Cincinnati.

Explorer’s Camp


July 19-23
Cost; $150.00
Times: 9 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Ages: 9 to 11 years old
Limit: 10 students

Students visit historic sites in Oldham County and participate in archaeology, primitive skills and geology activities. Students will make their own fishing poles, collect fossils, learn to cook with dutch ovens and visit some of our most famous cemeteries.
