History Mysteries Programs for Children Winter 2010

Join us each Saturday morning as we explore a special history mystery. Hands-on programs for children, all ages. Programs begin at 11 a.m.– there is a theme each month and that program is repeated each Saturday, throughout the month. Activities are free- donations are appreciated. No reservations are necessary.

January: What do things need to survive? Small terrariums were popular activities for entertaining children through the winter months in years past. Children investigate seed activities, talk about the needs of plants and ecosystems and then construct their own Victorian Garden for indoor pleasure.

February: Where do I come from?? Explore the family history tree, look at Bibles from ages past that contain family records then construct a family tree that traces individual journeys and paths from ancestors past.

March: What did they eat?? How did families live in ages past without the convenience of a grocery store or mall?? Children will make food from “scratch” just like days of pioneers.
