Between Fences Photography Contest

Sponsored by the Oldham County History Center

The Oldham County History Center is hosting a photography contest March 1-31 in conjunction with the Ky. Humanities Council and the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum on Main Street traveling exhibit “Between Fences”. We are looking for photos of Oldham County fences from your perspective. The reasons fences are built are varied. Fences can be built to show property lines or separate livestock from crops. They can also be built to protect children and pets or can be built for decoration. Whatever the reason, we want your perspective through the lens of a camera.

Photos must be original and personally photographed by the entrant. They should be printed in an 8”x10” format. The photos should be labeled on the back with the entrants’ name, age (and grade if a student) address and telephone number. The photos will be on display along with the “Between Fences” exhibit from April 25 through June 6, 2009. All photos must be received by April 1, 2009. Photos will not be returned and will become the property of the Oldham County Historical Society.

Cash prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Elementary Students (grades K-5)

Middle School Students (grades 6-8)

High School Students (grades 9-12)

Adults (age 18-59)

Adults (age 60+)

1st place winners in each category will receive $50.00.

2nd place winners in each category will receive $25.00.

3rd place winners in each category will receive $10.00.

(Judging will take place by April 25, 2009)
