Serving Life: The Kentucky State Reformatory
Exhibit Opening and Reception
March 15, 2008 at 2 p.m.
The public is invited to the opening reception “Serving Life: The Kentucky State Reformatory” an exhibit, on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Rob Morris Chapel Educational Building at the Oldham County History Center. The reception will debut the film: “A Day in the Life of an Inmate” produced by the inmates at KSR. Warden Larry Chandler will welcome visitors and introduce the film. The film is a featured part of the KSR exhibit.
The exhibit will explore the various aspects of KSR and its impact on the community including a timeline, prison crafts, examples of contraband, the effect of the consent decree laws, the life of an inmate today, prison industries, work of a prison guard including security of inmates and the community, services and contributions that KSR provides Oldham County. There will also be a good deeds section that includes ways that inmates give back to the community through prison sponsored clubs.
“Serving Life: The Kentucky State Reformatory” will be on display at the Oldham County History Center from March 15 through August 15, 2008.
