Living History For Kids Celebrates Black History Month

The Living History for Kids program for February features Charles Turner, Civil War soldier. Turner is a member of the 12th United States Colored Heavy Artillery regiment which was one of the African American units, mustered in at Camp Nelson, Kentucky. Turner will talk about the brave actions of African Americans who escaped slavery to fight for the Union. Children will examine civil war items and make “hard tac” that was a special bread made and eaten by the soldiers.

February’s Living History Programs will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10 am. The program will be at the Rob Morris Chapel Educational Building at the Oldham County History Center. Free admission.
