The Oldham County History Center will host the Louisville Ethnic Dancers on Friday, July 20 at 6:30 p.m. The dancers will perform German folk dances as a part of the history center's summer cultural heritage series. German culture was an important part of Oldham County's early settlement. Many Germans settled in Oldham County during the early 1800s when civil war in Germany caused a massive migration of Germans to the United States. There were also a few families that came to Oldham County from the Germana colonies that settled in the United States in the 18 th Century.
This is the second time the Louisville Ethnic Dancers have performed “in the streets” for the Oldham County History Center. The dancers are dressed in German native costume and engage the audience in the folk tunes and traditional German dances. The performance will take place on Main Street, across from the Irish Rover II restaurant.
The performance is free and open to the public. The activity is part of Oldham County Day events. The dancers will be performing on Main Street in front of the Irish Rover II restaurant, 117 E. Main Street, LaGrange.
