The Oldham County History Center is continually updating its’ webpage: oldhamcountyhistoricalsociety.org. There are several new features including Photographs of Historic Places and People. This new feature will acquaint you with some interesting aspects of local history that make our county unique. You can visit the Rob Morris home, Goshen General Store and Confederate Cemetery, all through the convenience of a virtual tour. In addition you will find that there is a gift shop where you can order some of our specific items such as our new cookbook, “History by Food: Recipes and Stories of Families from Oldham County” the beautiful Duncan Memorial Ceramic Chapel as well as other interesting items like Little Colonel books, maps and more.
The website is continually being updated and expanded. There are authentic letters from our research collection such as the Amos Mount Civil War Letters, Weller Letters that span from the 1850s through the 1920s, and the cemetery information that lists the graves and gravesites of people in Oldham County. You will also find interesting notes and photos from our archaeology project, The Henry Bibb Project that we began in 2005. Bibb was a former slave who became a very well-known abolitionist and the first black editor of a Canadian newspaper.
