After Hours at the History Center

Join us for our 2007 lecture series- we have changed the format so that our lecture series will be on Wednesday or Thursday evenings with appetizers by the Irish Rover, Too and cash bar. All lectures will take place in our newly renovated Rob Morris Chapel on the history center grounds. Reservations are recommended. $13 members/$16 non-members. Call 502-222-0826. Appetizers and Bar begin at 6 p.m. Lecture at 6:45 p.m.

After Hours at the History Center on March 15, 2007:

"Barns of Oldham County "

Creasey-Mahan Nature Preserve Director, Glenn Yost will share images he has collected over the years of barns in the region. Yost presented this program several years ago to the history center and has added new images to the collection. The presentation is being given in conjunction with the Barns! Oldham County: an exhibit by artist Ann Carter, that is currently on display at the history center museum. It runs through April 15.

2007 Schedule for After Hours at the History Center

May 17, 2007 Thursday, Historic Kentucky: Images by James Archambeault : Nationally known photographer and Kentuckian, James Archambeault, will share images and information from his new book, Historic Kentucky from the University of Kentucky Press.

July 19 2007 Thursday , Reading the History of Your Neighborhood : University of Louisville archivist and preservationist, Dr. Tom Owens will talk about his walking tours and how community awareness contributes to civic pride and commitment.

September 20 2007 Thursday, Dying Proper: A Century of Kentucky Funerals : Kentucky Humanities Council speaker, Sue Lynn McDaniel will clue us in on some of the strange funeral rituals of Kentucky's past. This lecture coincides with the fall ghost tours conducted by Discover Downtown LaGrange. November 15, 2007 Thursday, Adolph Rupp: The Coach portrayed by Kentucky Chautauqua actor Ed Smith.
