A Barn as a Slave Pen and Other Reconstruction Sites from the 19th Century, Archaeologist Jeannine Krinebrink
Northern Kentucky University archaeologist, Jeannine Krinebrink was instrumental in the deconstruction and reconstruction of the slave pen barn that is now the centerpiece exhibit at Cincinnati's Freedom Center. Jeannine has also worked on several Civil War sites in Northern Kentucky and her work from those sites was featured in Smithsonian 2005 May issue. Currently Krinebrink is working with the Oldham County History Center on the Gatewood Plantation Archaeology Site in Trimble County. The Gatewood Plantation was the last site where abolitionist and slave, Henry Bibb lived before he escaped to Canada and became the first black editor of a newspaper in Canada.

May 17, 2007 Thursday, Historic Kentucky: Images by James Archambeault : Nationally known photographer and Kentuckian, James Archambeault, will share images and information from his new book, Historic Kentucky from the University of Kentucky Press.
July 19, 2007 Thursday , Reading the History of Your Neighborhood : University of Louisville archivist and preservationist, Dr. Tom Owens will talk about his walking tours and how community awareness contributes to civic pride and commitment.
September 20, 2007 Thursday, Dying Proper: A Century of Kentucky Funerals : Kentucky Humanities Council speaker, Sue Lynn McDaniel will clue us in on some of the strange funeral rituals of Kentucky's past. This lecture coincides with the fall ghost tours conducted by Discover Downtown LaGrange.
