History By Food Cookbooks Are In! History by Food:  Recipes and Stories about the Food and Families of Oldham County, Kentucky is hot off the press and available at the Oldham County History Center.  The book is a compilation of stories that connect local food traditions to the families that have lived in Oldham County.  The traditions are based upon recipes that were handed down among generations of families who immigrated to Oldham County, adapting to the local natural conditions that favored a particular produce or livestock.  The book contains over 150 recipes and many stories and facts about the various cultures, buisnesses and families that have made Oldham County a special place.  The book was produced through volunteers that were part of the committee that planned the Smithsoninan traveling exhibit, Key Ingredients: America by Food that was on display this past September and October at the history center museum.  Key Ingredients: America by Food is a part of the Museums on Main Street Program that is sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute and the Kentucky Humanities Council.
