"Food Along the Lewis and Clark Trail" will be the topic presented by Mark Sohn, featured speaker from the Ky. Humanities Council, as part of the Riverdaze Activities, Sept. 22 and 23, 2006 in Westport, KY. Special samples prepared from recipes used by explorers and the Indians will be on hand. Mark Sohn of the Kentucky Humanities Council will be speaking on Friday evening, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Lewis and Clark Commemorative Westport RiverDaze event.
There will also be a display authentic Native American artifacts and activities by Redfeather Productions sponsored in a grant from the Kentucky Lewis and Clark Commission. These activities will accentuate the Native American culture that once thrived and lived for centuries in Oldham County along the Ohio River Valley. The displays and demonstrations will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There are many other activities that will be featured at the Lewis & Clark Riverdaze including a 5K and 3K fun walk on Saturday, Bluegrass Music at the Commons on Friday, Horseshoe Tournament, historical walking tour, black powder demonstration and special children's activities.
Children can pick-up special information and materials on tree identification and a leaf scrapbook contest sponsored by the Oldham County Conservation District, Oldham County Libraries and Oldham County History Center on Saturday at the commons from 10 until 2.
