Historic Walking Tours of Downtown LaGrange
The Oldham County History Center will begin leading walking tours of the historic district of LaGrange beginning Saturday, June 3, 2006. The tours include a walk through the home of Rob Morris who was founder of the Eastern Star and Poet Laureate of Freemasonry in the 19 th Century. Other unique features include information about D. W. Griffith, African American abolitionist and educator, Elijah Marrs, Revolutionary War surveyor "Big Foot Billy" as well as composer and child actor, Buddy Pepper.
Walking tours will cover approximately a half mile. The price is $3 a person, children age 5 and under are free. Tours will begin at 11 a.m., Saturdays from June 3 through October 28. September and October tours feature the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit: Ky. Ingredients: America by Food. All tours begin and end at the Oldham County History Center.
