The Oldham County History Center is pleased to announce the third installment in their Kentucky Humanities Book Series. Local historian and Kentucky Humanities Speaker, Diane Coon, will present Stephen Aron's How the West Was Lost: The Transformation of Kentucky from Daniel Boone to Henry Clay at the Irish Rover Too in LaGrange Wednesday April 13th at 12 noon.
In his book, Mr. Aron examines how the cultural relationship between the Indians and Europeans coexisted and why this fragile relationship could not last. Mr. Aron attempts to explain the reasons for this failure and how Kentucky set the pattern for settling the rest of the continent.
Diane Coon is currently researching and writing books about the history of the Ohio River Valley. Her largest project to date has been the identification and documentation of Underground Railroad sites in Southeastern Indiana and North-Central Kentucky. Ms. Coon has been named a featured Kentucky Humanities Council speaker since 2002 and has spoken to audiences all over Kentucky.
