The Oldham County History Center is please to announce its second dinner lecture of 2005 at the Irish Rover Too in LaGrange on Wednesday March 16th at 6pm. The featured guest will be author Dana Olson presenting his book The Legend of Price Madoc and the White Indians. Dana Olson was born in Wisconsin and grew up in Clarksville, IN. As a child growing up he heard many of the elderly residents of Clarksville spin tales of George Rogers Clark conquering the Northwest Territory, of Aztec treasure buried at the Falls of the Ohio and of mighty Indian chiefs and their fierce warriors. These childhood tales fueled Mr. Olson to leave his career in insurance sales and embark on a six year journey that would lead him to the publishing of Prince Madoc: Founder of Clark County Indiana in 1987. Now in its sixth printing and renamed The Legend of Prince Madoc and the White Indians, this book tells the story of Prince Madoc, a twelfth century Welsh explorer. Through years and miles of research Mr. Olson lays out evidence that Madoc journeyed far into the interior of America and settled the first permanent European colony in 1170. Mr. Olson is the recipient of a Writer's Digest 2000 National Book Award Contest Certificate of Merit for his extensive research efforts and the unique content of his book. The cost of the dinner lecture is $15 for History Center members and $18 for nonmembers. Reservations are suggested. Space is limited. |
