History Center/502-222-0826 African American Genealogy Workshop by John Logan Thursday, June 24, 2004 Oldham County History Center Education Annex Cost: $10 per person Registration required: 502-222-0826 Mr. Logan is the co-founder of the African-American Genealogy Group (AAGG) of Philadelphia and a charter member of the Family Reunion Institute at Temple University, an organization that teaches families how to begin and/or improve family reunions. He has been practicing genealogy for over 20 years, having over 4600 individuals in his database, having traced his maternal line back for 6 generations. John's genealogy background begins in 1979 with the birth of his second child. He felt a need to begin researching his family history and has been successful through locating his Great-grandfather, Mason Logan, a Civil War Veteran, who served with the 6 th U.S. Colored Cavalry, at Camp Nelson, KY. Oldham County 's population in 1830 was over 1/3 African American. In this workshop John will provide information on ways the African American community can locate family histories and genealogy in our region.
